The Joy T-shirt Project
The Joy Apparel T-shirt
Founded in 2006

Joy Apparel was a socially conscious T-shirt project founded by Jeffery Woodrow in 2006. The initiative was built on over 1,500 hand-drawn portraits of real people from diverse backgrounds, regardless of race, gender, age, ethnicity, or ability. Each face was printed over the heart, encouraging the wearer to think about that person and reflect on how their everyday actions could affect others and the world we live in.

Every T-shirt was ethically manufactured in Canada from organic cotton and came with a small bio card, sharing the stranger's name, location, and passion. Upon receiving a shirt, participants were given a unique ID code that allowed them to upload their own photo to the website, enabling their faces to be drawn by hand and worn by others.

With participants from countries like Kenya, Sweden, and Guatemala, Joy Apparel was about loving your neighbour and taking care of one another, emphasizing our interconnectedness in a world that often feels vast and fractured.

Reignite the Joy: Limited Edition Joy T-shirts Giveaway: We're excited to announce the possibility of bringing back the Joy T-shirt project in a limited capacity! As part of this initiative, we're reaching out to create a small list of individuals who are interested in participating. Recently, we discovered a cherished box of 18 original Joy T-shirts, tucked away and waiting for a new home. These shirts are more than just clothing; they're a canvas for inspiration and connection. Each week, we'll be giving away 3 shirts at random to those who sign up and share why they believe in the Joy project.

Sign Up Below: Let us know your passion for the project for a chance to receive a complimentary Joy Tee. Supplies are limited and will be offered while they last. Please note that the sizes, styles, and colors of these rare shirts are limited. If the shirt you receive isn’t quite the right fit for you, we encourage you to pass on the Joy to someone else who will love and wear it. This act of giving is an opportunity to spread the Joy further. Alternatively, you can keep the shirt for yourself as a unique piece of art—a testament to a project aimed at spreading joy and unity. Join us in this journey of rekindling the Joy and sharing it with others. Together, we can continue to celebrate the spirit of connectivity that the Joy T-shirt project embodies.
